Sunday, Day #11 Becoming Best Friends with God

God wants to be your friend.

Now we can rejoice in our new relationship with God-all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us in making us friends of God.

Christ changes us from enemies into friends.

God invites us to enjoy friendship and fellowship with all three persons of the Trinity; our Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said, I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

The word for friend does not mean a casual acquaintance but a close, trusted relationship.

Becoming a best friend starts with constant conversation. He wants to be included in every activity, every conversation, every problem and even every thought.

The key is not changing what you do, but changing your attitude toward what you do. What you do normally for yourself you begin doing for God, whether it is eating, bathing, working, relaxing or taking out the trash.

Pray all the time.

The second way to establish a friendship with god is by thinking about his Word throughout the day.

You can't love God, unless you know him and you can't know him without knowing his word.

It's difficult for me to think about Jesus as my friend. I have begun to speak to Him more frequently and ask His advise while going through my daily routine. I view friendship as a causal. It feels like Jesus is more of a mentor. guess I need to think about this more.

  1. In the chapter a few days ago called Planned for God's Pleasure I had raised the question, how can I wash dishes and do laundry for Jesus? I was surprised to find the answer to that in this chapter. It described how we can "turn even the most commonplace and menial tasks, like washing dishes, into acts of praise!" Wow,I really praised God tonight!! I will never wash dishes again without thinking about what I read. I have really enjoyed reading the past few chapters about what worship really is, surrending to God and finding out what pleases Him. Thank you God for wanting to be my best friend. I'm going to try to treat you everyday as a best friend should by saying good morning and good night and in between just chat with you more.
