Tuesday Day #20 Restoring Brioken Fellowship

"Relationships are always worth restoring.
Because life is all about learning how to love, God wants us to value relationships and make the effort to maintain them instead of discarding them whenever there is a rift, a hurt, or conflict.

If you want God's blessing...you must learn to be a peacemaker.

Peacemaking is not avoiding conflict, it is also not appeasement.

Seven Biblical steps to restoring fellowship;
-Talk to God before talking to the person. If you pray to God about the conflict first instead of gossiping to a friend, you will often discover that either God has changed your heart or he changes the other person without your help. No one can meet all your needs except God.

-Always take the initiative. It doesn't matter whether you are the offender or the offended. Go to them first.
Delay only deepens resentment and makes matters worse. In conflict, time heals nothing; it causes hurts to fester.

-Sympathize with their feelings. Focus on their feelings, not the facts.

-Confess your part in the conflict. Begin with admitting your own mistakes or sin.

-Attack the problem, not the person.

-Cooperate as much as possible.

-Emphasize reconciliation, not resolution. We can walk arm in arm without seeing eye to eye on every issue." PDL Chapter 20

Lots of good advise here and lots that I need to get better at. This just keeps building. If I can follow half of this, I will be a much better person.
